About the Role
We are hiring a Host & Field Producer to be the face, voice, and central storyteller for "Saving the American Farmer." You are not carrying production gear or pulling focus—a dedicated crew handles cameras, sound, and post-production. You are carrying the conversation.
What You Will Do:
- Find the Stories: Source documentary families from Legacy Farmer's client base and build a cold pipeline of podcast guests across the country.
- Earn Trust: Spend the crucial hours before the camera comes out building genuine trust with farm families so they open up authentically.
- Ask the Questions & Own the Room: Conduct deeply honest on-camera documentary and podcast interviews. Follow conversation threads, read the room, and get to the heart of real stories.
- Be the Face: Represent the brand across documentaries, podcasts, social media, and live events.
- Editorial Voice: Help shape format, cadence, and editorial direction alongside leadership without relying on a script.
Ideal Candidate
- Ag Rooted: Grew up in agriculture, married into it, or has a decade of lived ag experience—farmers know within 90 seconds if you are genuine.
- Master Interviewer: An active listener who asks deep second/third questions, uses silence effectively, and wants the farmer seen rather than themselves.
- Warm & Authentic: Warm and relatable on camera without corporate or overly polished broadcast slickness.
- Unfazed by Production: Keeps the conversation natural and comfortable even with lights, cameras, and crew in the room.
- Relentless Consistency: Able to hold a strict content release schedule regardless of mood or environment.
Experience and Qualifications
Required:
- Must be located in US (Remote with Central-time overlap; ability to travel 35–55 days/year, mostly drive time to rural locations).
- Deep, authentic background in agriculture (grew up on a farm, married into ag, or 10+ years in the ag industry).
- Demonstrated experience interviewing, storytelling, hosting, or producing content (podcast, video, or stage).
Preferred:
- Existing audience or established presence in ag media.
- Story/editorial instinct in the edit room.
- Existing relationships with farm families across multiple states.
- Comfort hosting on a live stage and working knowledge of farm financials.
- Note: Journalism degrees, broadcast pedigrees, or AgTech/SaaS backgrounds are NOT required.
A video telling us why you are the right person for this role (shot on your phone) and examples of work you have made are required to be considered.
