Job Title: R&D ENGINEERING INTERN

Job Type: Full-time, Paid Summer Internship

Compensation: Competitive monthly salary PLUS housing stipend

Schedule: Monday – Friday, 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM

Location: Omaha, NE

Centese, Inc. is a fast-paced start-up medical device company developing products to improve outcomes for patients undergoing heart and lung surgery. The first product, Thoraguard, is a fully automated chest tube and chest drainage system at the intersection of patient-centric outcome improvement and digital medicine. We are building a team of multidisciplinary experts passionate about positively impacting the lives of others through technological advancement.

Job Summary:

The intern will be asked to perform engineering tasks, attend internal meetings, and work with our interdisciplinary team members. Centese is a fast-paced startup environment with multiple initiatives occurring at once—being able to balance priorities is a must. This is NOT a remote internship.

 

Projects / Tasks:

§ Contribute to brainstorming sessions

§ Rapidly design, build, and test prototypes

§ Create parts, assemblies, and drawings in SolidWorks

§ Design and breadboard basic circuits

§ Write embedded software

§ Analyze data in MATLAB

§ Develop test methods and test fixtures to characterize device performance

§ Generate reports to document test findings

§ Source components and coordinate schedules with external suppliers

§ Comply with medical device quality system requirements

§ Assist with literature searches and prepare data for presentations

 

Qualifications:

§ Candidates must be working towards a BS, MS, or PhD degree

§ Completed a minimum of two years in an engineering curriculum

§ Candidates must be in good academic standing

§ Experience with SolidWorks and MATLAB

§ Mechanical engineering experience is required

§ Electrical or software engineering experience preferred

§ Prototyping experience, electromechanical systems engineering, and experimental test designs and execution

§ Available to work full-time throughout the summer in Omaha, NE
